Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

The pupil premium grant was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’). Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel. The Government believes that the pupil premium grant, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for FSM and their peers. Additional funding is also available to support and run Summer schools.

Schools are free to spend the pupil premium grant as they see fit.  However, they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support low-income families.

On this page are some useful documents that explain how we use the pupil premium grant here at Burbage and the impact that it is having on our children.
